It’s The National Bully Prevention Month and This Is What Parents Need to Know about It

National Bully

October is the month to put down all the bullies and haters, because, it’s the National Bully Prevention month—one of the most important months of the calendar for parents and kids.

A Brief Introduction about the National Bully Prevention Month

The month was set aside in 2006 to deal with the issue of bullying by Parent Advocacy Coalition for Educational Right (PACER), a US Department of Education funded program. Each year, PACER goes into schools and colleges across US to educate kids about bullying and harassment. Activities and programs are also set up so to put a stop to it.

We know that bullying has evolved from our playgrounds, over social media. So it’s the perfect time when we can share the contemporary solutions to this classic enigma.

Major Events of the Month

Bullying is not a petty issue for kids who have faced life-changing events due to it and therefore, the Parents involved of these kids want to ensure rehabilitation that can normalize their child’s life.

So it’s the month to run, walk, roll and even go on a marathon against bullying.

The events in this month are hosted by communities and families throughout the country. The events are focused over raising awareness about forms and dangers of bullying and how to take precautions to save a child from it. PACER provides numerous suggestions for various activities that can be conducted in this month, but to make it more commendable, memorable and educational; it’s recommended that everyone tries something new. Some important events of the month are:

Unity Day

This day is celebrated on 21st October. People are asked to wear orange to symbolize their love and commitment against bullying. The day is focused towards primary schools. If you have kids in school, you can encourage them to join the event.  Talk about it, share photos online and attach all the necessary tags to each image so that others can reach out for the local events too.

Why to Celebrate an Anti-Bullying Month?

Bullying is not just a one-time childhood thing. It can have long-lasting and very catastrophic consequences on the victim’s behavior, health and income. If we want to save our kids, it’s our responsibility to take reasonable measures to stop bullying from our school and over the internet. And you don’t need to feel alone while doing it.

Bullying is a social problem and a National issue and to make it stop, everyone needs to put in some effort –take the first step, before anyone else does. You need to make it happen, because waiting for someone else to come and solve the issue for you is not going to happen.
